The USAFL is very old in simulation time. The league began in the spring of 1997 and launched an online presence later that fall. The first simulated year was 1997 and when the league opened it's doors to the net, it was in simulated year 2004. The league expanded in simulated year 2008 to eighteen teams. In simulated year 2023, the league shut down. When it restarted several months later, it began with a whole new league file (to avoid the corrupted file problems that plagues the earlier league) and we imported the teams from the 2023 season.

Bortz Era USAFL: 2062-present = 2062-present
Same league as previous, new FBPRO league files with imported teams from previous league files.

Modern USAFL:
2001-2061 = 2001-2061
Brand new league files, including teams and fictional players. Reached PID limitation of FBPRO code at end of 2061.

USAFL V.2: 1999-2004 = 1995-2000
Same league files as previous incarnation

Original USAFL: 1997-2022 = 1969-1994
Fictional 8 team league, expanded to 12 then later 18 teams

FOOTBALL SEASONS FLY BY
The USA Football League was created in the spring of 1997 by two brother-in-laws, Andrew Lewis and James Maurer. Within months the league hit the internet to attract more members. Fifty plus seasons later and the league enjoys the friendliest and most loyal community. "We strive to enjoy each other's success," says Lewis. "We all work hard to be as competitive as possible on the field. But off the field, I couldn't ask for a better group of people." The league has gone through three incarnations, with the current one enjoying the greatest length of activity. The league office contains five men who equally shared the load of producing a professional and entertaining online sports simulation.
