Draft Picks Leave Town, Rapid Follows

Baltimore trades out of 2091 USAFL Draft, Trades Star Defensive End
By "Kenny Collins"

Off-Season 2091 (Baltimore) - Baltimore Ravens General Manager Ryan Howard has made waves in the state of Maryland this off-season, cutting loose the highest paid defensive linemen in the league in the process.

'I think this is best for both the Ravens franchise and for Casey Rapid,' said Howard of the trade. 'We have a lot more capital to work with now, and its a flexibility we need to have to get this franchise to the top of the food chain.'

Howard was of course referring to the $20 million contract of Rapid, who many felt underproduced following the handsome reward. The Ravens already have made a move to fill the void, trading future draft considerations to the Green Bay Packers for defensive end Bert Terry, who they hope to develop.

The Ravens also traded out of the 2091 draft, of which they had the second pick in each round.

'We just didn't feel there was much we wanted out of this draft -- nothing against the talent,' said Howard. 'I think we made out handsomely, though, and we're hoping the draft class of 2092 is a hell of a group.'
