Alexander engineers 17 point fourth quarter rally to upend the Patriots in the Super Bowl

Playoffs 2092 (Miami, FL) - The Giants needed one more chance.

After a Jock Riddick field goal closed the gap to within 4 with 1:53 left on the clock, the Giants knew they had to recover the onside kick.

'We came so far the last few years, and it was on my shoulders after I made the field goal. All I needed to do was put it in one spot and maybe we'd get the bounce. Onside kicks are very risky to do. We must have practiced this hundreds of times in my career and were maybe successful 5% of the time.' Riddick said when he was asked what was going through his head as the Giants lined up for the onside kick.

Luckily the Giants did get the bounce. Kevin Wood leaped high in the air after the ball took a huge hop over the pile and came down with the ball.

'That was awesome. Wood's been making so many plays for us ever since he took over the starting role, and he did it again. When he came down with the ball I knew we had a chance.'

The Giants offense, worn down after furiously coming back from a 17-3 deficit in record high temperatures after three quarters, knew they had to strike quickly.

'That's what we had to do.' Super Bowl MVP Ken Alexander said. 'We were beat but we didn't quit. The Patriots defense had completely shut us down for three quarters, and we knew we had to do something in the fourth. We were runnin' on fumes for the longest time in the fourth, so we needed to strike fast. It was 104 down there and we were just about ready to pass out, but we just couldn't let that happen.'

After a quick first down pass to Reid Wilson. Alexander wanted to go for the end zone. However the pocket disappeared quickly on the next play and Alexander was dropped.

'Then and there it just seemed like we were wiped out. Luckily coach Freeman sent Billy in to sub for Wilson. The moment Billy hit the huddle, he was psyched and wanted the ball.' Alexander said.

'I knew I could get open. All I needed was a chance to get down the field and I did. The moment I raised my arm up, Kenny just threw the ball right to me.' Rodgers said. Rodgers subbed in for Wilson, who was on the sidelines getting oxygen.

One 45 yard pass later from the Super Bowl MVP and the comeback was complete. The defense held on with suffocating coverage and the New York Giants walked off the scorching hot field in Miami with a 20-17 victory.

'Luckily we made adjustments at the right time. Gotta give the Patriots a ton of credit, they were an awesome team and we couldn't figure 'em out for three quarters. We just threw stuff at the wall in the fourth quarter and luckily it stuck when we did.' Alexander said. 'It was hot on the field, and it's gonna be some hot celebrating tonight!'
