Off-Season 2099 (Chicago, IL.) - The local media in Chicago is mixed about new GM Z-Bo Zabroski's changes, which have now been publicized as wide as national media outlets like USA Today. One writer summed the situation up as, 'Trying to give a burn victim a facelift.' Eight players retired this off-season, including franchise player Isaac Williams and sack artist Harry Cunningham. These retirements were coupled with the retirement of legendary GM Brad Houska and the loss of all four of their draft picks due to a salary cap infraction. Chicago lost its leaders in the off-season.

To replenish that leadership, Chicago targetted the top two offensive linemen available in free agency, Jon Conover and Antoine Reed. While the Redskins matched Jon Conover's offer sheet, the Bears managed to pull Reed away from division rival Minnesota. The ursine Reed, a mountainous six-foot-two and 291 pounds, possesses the paws of a grizzly bear and the foot speed to keep his enemy pinned to the sidelines, far away from the quarterback.

The Bears are expected to sign 30 undrafted free agents via the waiver draft.
