Capper Creates Competition in Camp, Captures Captaincy

Rookie QB Morgan Capper will start for the Buffalo Bills

Pre-Season 2101 (Orchard Park, NY) - There were many surprises for the Buffalo Bills coming out of training camp this season, but none as big as the announcement they made today. Rookie QB Morgan Capper has won the starting job over incumbent Steve Coats and last year's backup, Reggie Williams. The Bills surprised many by selecting Capper in the 2nd round of this season's draft - especially after they took Williams in the same round the year before. The competition in camp was intense and as of yesterday it was anyone's guess. But GM Mark Ricotta ended the suspense this morning.

'We have three excellent QB's on this team right now. Coats was a rock behind center last year; and we couldn't be happier with Reggie Williams' progression. But Morgan showed us something we've been missing the last decade or three. He's a natural leader. His arm strength is phenomenal, he's quick, and the team responds to him. When it was all said and done - we decided to give him the reigns this season. No sense waiting. Reggie is there if he falters, but we don't think he will. I talked to Reggie this morning and he understands the situation.'

Coats, understandably, doesn't. Going from playoff starter to clipboard holder in one season doesn't sit well with this player. He did not have a comment to provide, but some reported seeing him cleaning out his locker.

In addition to being named the starter, Capper was also appointed Offensive Captain for the 2101 Season.

This is going to be an interesting season in Buffalo. Hang on to your seats, folks - it might be a bumpy ride.
