A Fourth Grandberg For Minnesota ...

Vikings GM Lou Lombardo shows off franchise's fourth Grandberg
By "Maria Marino"

Pre-Season 2108 (Mankato, MN) - While unpacking his belongings at the Minnesota Vikings new Training Camp Complex at Mankato, Minnesota, GM Lou Lombardo was handed an overnight FedEx package addressed to the Vikings Front Office. Lombardo was reportedly overjoyed as he recognized the contents and beaming proudly as he carried the shiny Garritt Grandberg USA Sports Spirit Award out into the hall to showoff to all the players entering the building. What happened next was right out of a movie script.

With the team's rookies sluggishly carrying in the veteran's luggage, Lombardo launched into one of his famous speeches about the Vikings' noble tradition and prestige and how once again, the league's founder and commissioner has bestowed the highest honor to the Vikings' General Manager.

Lombardo held the plaque up high for all to see ...

Incoming rookie Punter Hugh Brenna, a fourth round selection from Hawaii, respectfully inquired if Lombardo had examined the award closely.

'Son, this is my fourth such honor,' Lombardo reportedly barked back at the young rookie. 'I could describe this plaque from memory.'

Ravin Hass called out, 'Mr. Lombardo? You may wanna take another look.'

After a couple moments of contemplation ... Lombardo, in a hushed voice, asked one of his secretaries to find Mark Thul.

In a few moments Thul entered the lobby, bathroom cleanser and a mop in hand, and approached his mentor.

Lombardo extended his hand out to shake Thul's hand ... and proclaimed,

'Gentlemen, I give you the league's newest recipient of the Garritt Grandberg USA Sports Spirit Award, Minnesota Vikings' own Assistant General Manager Mark Thul!'

ED. note:
Thul has reportedly played an integral role in the league's long-term expansion project.
