Carolina back in Sundby hunt

Jones passes the 50,000 mark as Panthers return to playoffs for sixth straight year

Playoffs 2109 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers are once again playoff bound for the sixth straight year, and this 10-4 campaign has them possibly in contention to return to the Sundby Cup.

Veteran quarterback Kevin Jones led the Panthers offense once more this season after offseason speculation that the Panthers may go with his young backup. Jones passed the 50,000 yard mark during the season without much fanfare and his career total now stands at 50,519 yards.

'I'm hoping to get another chance at the Cup before I retire,' Jones said. Many media outlets have already reported that Jones has told the Panthers the 2110 season will be his last. Those same media types thought Carolina had no chance to return to the Sundby before Jones retired.

Once more, it looks like the division rival Chicago Bears will stand in the Panthers way to return to the big game. Both have won their last five in a row, and they split the season series 1-1. If both win their first round playoff games, they will meet in the second round once again.

Will the Panthers face the dynasty that is Buffalo in the Sundby once more should they get that far? Or will it be the emerging Miami team where Carolina GM 'Trader' Lee Remley served as AGM before moving on to this franchise?

Those are the kind of questions that make the USAFL playoffs intersting. Stay tuned.
