Bears' Shane Allen Reaches For 10,000 Yard Milestone

Regular Season 2079 (CHICAGO) - Franchise running back Shane Allen attempts to become the Chicago Bears' first 10,000 yard rusher. With four games left in the 2079 season, Allen needs to average only 49 yards per game to reach the milestone. The Bears' remaining opponents for 2079 are @Houston Texans, @New York Giants, and at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

'In a perfect world, Shane will surpass the mark at home, but we aren't going to hold him down. We are trying to win our Conference and possibly nail down home-field for the playoffs,' states Bears head coach Bob Switzer.

The 6 foot 182 pound halfback was drafted by the rival Green Bay Packers in the 2nd round of the 2068 amateur draft but was traded to the Bears in 2071 where he was immediately rewarded with the club's franchise tag. He has started for the Bears ever since. He has five Player of the Week Awards and 10 Player of the Game Awards and is a one-time All-Pro (2077). He led Chicago through their championship run in 2077 with 437 rushing yards (145/game) and 4 TD's during the playoffs.

Allen had a 6-year streak of 1000-yard seasons snapped during the 2078 season. 'Shane had a very disappointing year last year, but I claim full responsibility for that. I made a huge coaching error in bringing in a new offensive coordinator the season following our Super Bowl win. I thought about sitting Shane down this season and we talked of his retirement, but he said he didn't want to go out that way.....and he has proven it on the field. He is definitely our MVP this season,' added Switzer.
