Two former Bills shuffle off to Carolina

Panthers sign two players released by Buffalo

Off-Season 2115 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers signed halfback Gary Proehl and defensive end Nobert Darling off waivers today, adding two veterans of winning Buffalo teams.

Some observers believe Proehl could start at halfback in Carolina with his great speed and reputation for toughness, while Darling is expected to be a part of the defensive line rotation.

Many were surprised at the signings given the Panthers emphasis on youth this offseason.

'We have always believed in the right mix of young players and veterans,' GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said when announcing the moves. 'These two guys have been on some very successful teams over the years, and we felt they could impart that knowledge on to our eager to learn young players.'

On the eve of breaking training camp, Panthers fans hope they've found the right mix to compete in an always tough division.
