Panthers King of Jungle once again

Carolina wins second Sundby Cup over defending champs

Off-Season 2124 (Charlotte) - The tinker tape parade in downtown Charlotte was sweet this morning as the Carolina Panthers celebrated their second Sundby Cup win over the defending champion Baltimore Ravens 10-6.

Wide receiver Jeff Armstrong lived up to his nickname of the 'All American Boy' by grabbing the winning touchdown pass from veteran QB Griffin Hinnant with 4:43 to play to clinch the long sought victory in the big game since their first win in 2106.

This win meant a lot to GM 'Trader' Lee Remley, especially after being selected by his peers as General Manager of the Year recently. Many observers thought the additions of HB Tommy Sheppard and S Ron Creswell were key in the Panthers making that last leap into the championship game.

'We have worked hard to get back here,' Remley told the media after the game. 'This is very gratifying. I thought this was a special team, but the last time I thought that a few seasons ago we went 6-8,' he said, smiling at the laughter that followed.

Three players decided to go out on top after the game as veteran TE Keith Mosebar, who came to Carolina to win his only Sundby Cup, HB Todd Sanders, a veteran of them with Baltimore, and surprisingly, HB Charles Johnston decided to announce their retirements.

Now that Carolina has once again reached the top, they are working on staying there.

'We're not finished by a long shot,' Remley said, throwing down the gauntlet once again in a tough NFC West division. 'It's time to go back to work.'
