Off-Season 2127 (Charlotte) - An era ended in Carolina today as long time quarterback Griffin Hinnant was traded to the New England Patriots, who were seeking a replacement for soon to be departed free agent QB Jeff Rollins.

Hinnant was a household name in Carolina for several years. He led the Panthers to a Sundby Cup, was a former league MVP, and is on track for the magic 40,000 yard career passing mark. His name will be mentioned alongside famed Carolina Panther QB Kevin Jones when it comes to great Panthers quarterbacks.

So now the burden of commanding the prolific Panthers offense falls to five year man Sherman Thompson, who appears ready to take that burden on his shoulders after years as Hinnant's understudy.

With the trades today of Hinnant, FB Andre Carpenter, OL Steve Castle, CB Jeff Howard, and WRs Jeff Armstrong and Ron Justin, along with the addition of several young players and rumored moves to come, the Panthers will have a different look this season in their quest to return to the Sundby Cup.
