Bills Backers Begin to Believe

With a revamped running game, the Bills are chasing a playoff spot

Regular Season 2132 (Orchard Park, NY) - Bills fans are starting to believe again. Without much to get excited about over the last two decades - their last Sundby Cup game was 2112 - fans understandably had become complacent. But with a new found emphasis on the running game, a completely revamped backfield and a stronger Offensive Line, there is cause for optimism. And the fan base that lived and breathed optimism for so long is ready for a return to glory.

The Bills seemingly flew under the radar in the offseason, but ultimatley pulled of a Free Agency coup by signing RB 'Neon' Deion Lockett, formerly of New England and Center Tim Freeman, previously with Green Bay. Instant starters the moment they put pen to paper, they were joined a short time later by FB Bruce Cherry in a trade with the Packers.

Lockett is proving to be a capable, younger and cheaper replacement for Jim Stewart. Cherry forced Erik Newton into a backup HB role - which he probably won't hold much longer with Dennis Smith making strides.

And now, after almost 20 years of silence, the front office is starting to show signs of life again. 'I'm not really sure what happened' said a tired looking GM Mark Ricotta. 'I guess life happened. We thought we made a great pickup in new collge scout Sophia Ricotta, but as it turned out, all she could do was eat, sleep and poop. Who knew? So we're going to let her develop for a few more years and get her back in the groove when she can actually talk.'

Add it all up and it seems to be paying off so far. Of course with the final four games of the season on the road, the organization couldn't have picked a better time to be more dedicated to running the ball. Will this be the year the Bills climb back to the top? Over 70,000 strong on any given Sunday sure hope so.
