Clint Jones: Second Musketeer

Giants Looking To Form Three Musketeers With #1 Pick
By "Mike Michaels"

Off-Season 2133 (Albany, NY) - In a post-draft press conference announcing the signing of #1 draft pick Clint Jones, Giants GM Joe Malloy made one thing perfectly clear.

'We're going to suck for one more season. We're looking for another #1 pick. We're going to form a core with Mike Ervins, Clint Jones, and whoever the #1 pick will be next season.'

After decades of mediocre and below play from the Giants, Malloy decided that things needed to change.

'No more resting on our laurels. No more accepting mediocre efforts from our players in training camps. If it means the occasional gutting of the roster to bring in players that want to start in this league, I'll do it. I draft and acquire players with the intention of making them start. I want to see 53 potential starters on my roster at all times. Too many times I've seen players I've acquired just show up to acquire a paycheck. That's unacceptable. We're a proud franchise and it's time that we start acting like one.'

With that said, Malloy introduced Jones to the throng of reporters that showed up at the press conference.

'Here's the second Musketeer, Clint Jones. Jones knows that there's a lot of work to be done on this team in the short term, and he knows that we have a goal to win a few Sundby Cups in the near future. I'll tell whoever the Third Musketeer that we'll take next season the same thing. Even then, this season will be the last season of pain and suffering for the Giants and their fans. We're going to go all out to build a winner, which is something that's long overdue.'

Jones stayed quiet during the press conference and fielded no questions. An insider said that Jones is the strong, silent type whose actions speak louder than words.
