150.250 Million Questions

Defensive End Jim Harris Quickly Falls Out of Favor in Washington
By "Peter King V"

Pre-Season 2134 (Philadelphia) - For the first time since becoming a starter in Chicago in the 2131 season, defensive lineman Jim Harris faces riding the bench.

Barring a last-minute change of heart, two 4th year defensive ends will line up on the field tonight when the Washington Redskins host the Cincinnati Bengals after word leaked out of Washington that AGM Ben Breeden plans to overrule his coaching staff and leave the $150.250 million free agent acquisition on the bench for the 2134 season. 'We can't play with twelve men, so someone has to be left out,' Breeden insisted this morning. 'Jim is a talented player - and he will have his opportunities to make plays this season. We signed him to a $150.250 million dollar free agency contract to improve our ball club and win games NOW. Furthermore, we expect Jim to be a productive player in this league for years to come, and we hope that he plans to honor his contract and return next season.'

Questions arose during the offseason about Harris' attitude and effect on team chemistry when the cap-spacious Chicago Bears simply let Harris walk. 'Jim is an outstanding talent, and we wish him well in Washington, or wherever he may end up playing as his career unfolds,' commented Bears' GM Todd Ricotta, when asked shortly after word came out that the Bears allowed Harris to sign with the Redskins.

Judging by Ricotta and Breeden's comments, could there be more to this story and to Harris' surprising fall from grace?

While that question may never be fully answered, one thing is for sure...despite having more money than he could possibly know what to do with, these must be difficult times for the former Bears captain.
