Who Will Be The Giants QB in 2164?

GM Joe Malloy announced Albert Reeder will not be on the team in 2164.

Regular Season 2163 (Albany, NY) - The Albert Reeder experiment is over.

After losing 26-3 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals where Reeder was booed heavily by a very angry Giants crowd, the New York Giants coaching staff and front office held an emergency meeting to discuss the Reeder problem.

'I've seen enough.' GM Joe Malloy said to the New York Post after this meeting. 'It's time to move on, Reeder has no business being on the field with his mental and physical problems. He needs help. He's ruining his professional and personal life, he's tarnishing our organization. I would cut him loose right now but this would cause an issue with the USAFL Players Union.'

Malloy even blamed Reeder for the Giants not winning the Sundby Cup last season.

'Everyone who saw the NFC title game saw Reeder throwing the ball into the turf repeatedly. With all due respect, if we had a competent quarterback, we probably beat the Bucs, and go on to beat the Bills in the Sundby Cup.'

The Giants will be looking to Ken Gary next season to carry the load if they cannot find a replacement for Reeder. Gary impressed the coaching staff in training camp and will get a further chance to prove himself, but young QBs go through a pretty harsh adjustment period.

'Anything would be better than the clown throwing me the ball.' wide receiver Rowan Pillman said. 'He's gonna get me killed one of these days. I've taken too many knocks this season because he's throwing the ball way out of reach. How the heck does he miss me as much as he does. I at least trust Kenny to not throw the ball 10 feet over my (censored) head.'

During the Giants/Bengals game, outspoken Bengals quarterback Courtney McLemore was seen jawing with Giants defensive back Cornelius Searcy. After the game, Searcy told the New York Post what McLemore was telling him.

'McLemore told me he doesn't feel sorry for Reeder. He called him a disgrace to quarterbacks everywhere. I can't argue with that, unfortunately. I know it's my teammate and all but it's hard to disagree with Courtney. Reeder's no good. The dude hates us, hates football, hates his family, hates everything. I can't stand Reeder staggering out there and pretending to play football. I don't know why I resigned with the Giants. He makes me sick.'

Several Giants players, including Searcy, have held private meetings with the coaching staff and Malloy.

'They've pretty much demanded to be traded if Reeder is on the roster next year. There's gonna be a mutiny unless we get rid of him. We've already lost one guy to Detroit, Riddle said there's no way he was going to resign with us if we kept Reeder. What a huge mistake that was.'

'I've spent some time trying to rebuild our organization and make it relevant and something the fans want to see. Nobody wants to see a drug addict with an alcohol problem throwing the football through the uprights. I'd rather keep the guys we got than babysit a guy who brings everything upon himself. If someone wants to clean him up and give him a shot at redemption, then so be it. Good luck with that, you'll need it.'
