(Philadelphia, PA) - We were supposed to believe there was so much aninosity that the two sides wouldn't even be in the same hotel together. There were the various third-party arbitrators trying to find even a trace of common ground. There was tough talk...and then there was tougher talk. But, like a hard candy with a soft center--there was a surprise brewing that no one saw coming.
Anonymous sources with both the USAFLPA and the League Office have confirmed that there have been secret meetings going on all week to try and work out a deal behind the scenes. According to these sources, much of the new agreement is already in place and it is expected that the two sides will publicly come together for the announcement of the new contract tomorrow.
If this is all based in truth, then we are closer to playing football again than anyone even imagined just 48 hours ago. It is expected that once the agreement is in place that the players will report back to their training camps and the new season will upon us in no time. Keep your fingers crossed.
