Rich Johnson Ready To Set New YPC Average

Regular Season 2200  - In just his third season, Rich Johnson is poised to break the yards per carry record of 6.66 set by Bill White of New Orleans in 2168. He is currently averaging 6.8 and 2 of the remaining 4 teams on the Chiefs' schedule rank in the bottom 3rd at stopping the run.

Clearly, he is making a statement for MVP this season. He's not the type of back who can carry the ball 250 times in a season like Tim Stanley from Minnesota. However, consider he's only had one run over 50 yards (70) and only 3 over 40. In week 3 against the Vikings he averaged over 10 ypc and 9.0 versus Houston in week 9. In 6 of his games he averaged over 7 yards per carry.

'I think he has great vision and moves like the late great Barry Sanders,' GM Harrison said. 'Although, let's not forget the great offensive line play so far this season. I was a season early in my prediction. It just added fuel to this season. We're going to be contending for a while ....'
