Off-Season 2258 (Cincinnati ) - Cincinnati Bengals fans are ready to hang their GM in effigy after a pre-draft trade that sent DEs Neil Marshall and Johnny Walker plus T Maxwell Thomas and P Deion Justin to division rival Miami.

Plus the GM himself is not worried.

'Look, these cycles in the USAFL come and go,' Bengals GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said in an interview. 'We've had upset fans before and we will again.'

Meanwhile, sports talk shows on subspace radio was full of fans calling for Remley's head.

'Trading our best linemen for a bunch of picks you don't know will come through?' one said. 'Is he nuts?'

'We'll be lucky to win a game this year,' said another.

After winning two games a year ago, however, getting a slew of picks for the future seems a good idea on the surface.

Meanwhile, the team matched a $10 million free agent offer for LB Freddie Irvin, so at least one of the defensive mainstays will remain with the team.

Also, there were some throughout the league that were impressed with the Bengals picks this year in a rather thinly talented draft.

'Contrary to what most fans think, we have a plan,' Remley said. 'If I listened to the fans, I'd end up sitting with them.'
