Did Buffalo's Personnel Problem Prevent Playoff Performance?

Roster snafu has fans fuming
By "Allen Wilson VI"

Off-Season 2265 (Orchard Park, NY) - After playing in three consecutive Sundby Cup games from 2261 to 2263, the Buffalo Bills lost in the first round of the playoffs this year. And the fans are fuming mad. Why? One look at the offensive line depth chart should give you a clue. Fans have been rightfully asking 'Who in the heck is Leslie Rivers? And why did he start over McCullough at Center?' That's a great question.

Sources say that Rivers, a 5th year player, had responsibility last season for turning in the roster depth chart. Shenanigans? Possibly. A scapegoat for a blunder by GM Mark Ricotta? Probably.

Truth be told, this one position most likely didn't result in the first round exit. But it sure couldn't have helped. QB Painter was on his last legs, the RB group leaves a lot to be desired and the D-line might as well have been using walkers on the field. And don't even get me started on Ricotta's stubborn use of the West Coast Offense. He's been running the same system for.... wait for it.... 44 seasons! Team sources say he was ready to switch to the K-Gun this offseason but, to the surprise of nobody, he missed the deadline.

Buffalo fans are a loyal and resilient bunch, and have had a lot to cheer for over the storied history of this franchise. But many feel Ricotta needs to refocus and put more effort into managing his team.

I'm sure he would be the first to agree...
