Carolina missing in playoff hunt

Panthers in an unfamiliar spot
By "Jordan Rulz"

Playoffs 2287 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers find themselves in an unfamiliar place - on the outside looking in regarding the USAFL playoffs.

This is the first time in 11 seasons the Panthers have not been in the playoffs. The run actually has went far beyond that, to making the playoffs in 32 of the last 42 seasons, and 21 of the last 24.

So this is quite unfamiliar going back four decades!

That long time Panthers GM, 'Trader' Lee Remley, is not taking it well, to put it mildly.

'This is a [insert universal Beaver curse here] good team and they totally underperformed,' Remley said. 'I think a lot of these guys are feeling a little too safe and have gotten too soft. We need to see about that.'

Remley did not elaborate, but many long time observers are thinking a shake up may be in order. One thing the Carolina GM never is accused of is being complacent.

In fact, this season Panthers fans felt maybe their GM shook up things too much.

Remley always shakes off the criticism.

'If you start listening to the fans, you end up sitting with them,' Remley joked when asked about their concerns.

Some things never change.
