Moving A Franchise / Team Names & Logos

The USA Football League prides itself on making it's simulation as enjoyable as possible for the participants. This includes allowing a GM to be in control of his favorite NFL team.

While the USAFL cannot promise an incoming GM that they can have their favorite team immediately, the league offices will however, present the incoming GM an opportunity to move his franchise once the GM participates in the league for no less than three seasons and has displayed that he/she is an active participant.

Obviously, if an existing GM already owns the incoming GM's favorite team, "oh-well". Nothing we can do about that.

Existing General Managers are allowed to move their franchises only after they have been in their current situation at least 25 seasons. The league offices reserve the right to postpone/decline a franchise move that may conflict with the best interest of the USAFL.

The USAFL also reserves the right to re-align and/or expand the league when it may serve the best interest of the game.

Moving a USAFL franchise is not as simple as just contacting everyone in the league and informing them about the move. The league officials have numerous unseen duties to make the move happen. This involves updating every associated team/league website graphics, updating all of Garritt's TeamManagement website applications code, updating the Front Page Sports Football Pro 98 simulation and all of Lorne Sundby's and Tony Gelat's stat-gathering applications.

FRANCHISE MOVE REQUEST

General Managers wishing to move their team, must contact the USAFL's league offices in writing. The league will review the request and inform the GM of their decision in a timely manner.

GMs that are granted the ability to move their franchise, will do so under the direction of the league offices. GMs should expect to wait at least three seasons before the move actually takes place.

USAGE OF ONLY CURRENT NFL TEAMS/LOGOS

Since it's inception in 1997, the USA Football League has only used the names and logos of the National Football League. Many online football simulations allow participants to generate their own team names and logos. While that idea is great for making the game more personal, it severely limits the USAFL's website graphically.

Reasons why the USAFL is an "NFL-Only" league:

* usage of NFL team logos
* usage of NFL team helmets
* usage of NFL live-action images
* sense of "alternate reality" that compares to real NFL
