Off-Season 2087 (Tampa) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have received permission from the USAFL to move the franchise to Charlotte, NC for the 2088 season. After the move they will be known as the Carolina Panthers, representing the whole region.

'The city of Charlotte stepped up and gave us a stadium deal after many years of trying to secure one here in Tampa,' GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said. 'It will be a sad day when we leave Tampa but to continue to compete in this league we had no choice.'

'We will not be held hostage by a sports franchise,' Florida governor George X.Y.Z. Bush said when questioned about the state losing one of their long standing football teams. 'As my great granddaddy used to say, we don't negotiate with terrorists.'

'An attempt to get the same quality facilities every other team in this league has is not terrorism,' Remley responded when told of the governor's statement. 'I would have expected better from the governor than sound bites and playing politics if I hadn't been dealing with his mularkey the past few years.'

Tampa residents have taken to naming the Bucs GM 'Traitor Lee' in response to the announcement of the move. But the disassociation between the city planners, the state legislature, and the team had taken root long before the present GM arrived.

'With the attitude of this city and this state toward our franchise, this was a long time coming,' Remley said. 'They were basically telling us not to let the door hit us in the fanny on the way out. So we took them up on that.'
