Bengals win second Sundby in four years

Cincinnati trounces Bufffalo again, say goodbye to a couple of greats

Off-Season 2379 (Cincinnati) - The Cincinnati Bengals won their second Sundby Cup in four years by beating the Buffalo Bills 27-6, moving their GM farther up the all-time list of Sundby winners.

'I think Mark is going to start having a complex about playing us,' a jubilant 'Trader' Lee Remley said, big cigar in hand after their win. 'Seriously, we beat a great team and we want to be back here again next season.'

MVP halfback Ricky Elkins once again showed why with 111 yards on the ground and duo QB Danny Cavanaugh and WR Bill Cooper hooked up for two TD passes in the win. The stout defense terrorized former teammate QB Brian Pleasant all day as indicated by the 10 sacks.

There was a bit of sadness too, as this was the last game for some Bengal greats. HB Jarrett Barnwell, TE Floyd Copeland, CB Jason Thomas and C William Washington were among seven who all went out on top and retired after the game.

Barnwell will go down as one of the Bengals top running backs at 7th on their all-time list. He lost his job this past season but was still there to backup and mentor teammate Elkins.

Speaking of all-timers, WR Bill Cooper is now 2nd on the Bengals all-time list with 782 receptions. He has a long way to go to beat Keith McKenzie and his outstanding 1016, but Cavanaugh will keep throwing him the ball next season for sure.

No rest for the weary as the Bengals now prepare for the draft and replacing their retired comrades for another run. But for now, the team and their fans can bask in the glory of another Sundby Cup trophy in that big trophy case at Bengals HQ.
