Houston continues growth.

Young Texans alowing 181 less points then last season
By "Jon Cole"

Regular Season 2089 (Houston, TX) - The young Texans have really impressed their owner with their grit and determination. They have dropped their average points against through 10 weeks from 56 to 38, and although the scoring is actually worse so far, there is cause for optimism. 'Our line is young and very talented, a rook is starting and next season should be a great one. We are also excited about the fact we face Baltimore week 12. I know they are probably a better team than their record indicates, but we hope that maybe we can pull of an upset.'

Now the chronicle continues it's look at the Texans, starting with the O-Line, then the defense and special teams.

OL: The line boasts 5 1st round selections, the senior member being Marion Abshire (#3) Fred Bowden (#6) has been impressive. Last years #18 pick Tony Cobble looks to be a solid contributor while this season, #2 and #3 Don Moore and Henry Rucker really impressed in camp, with Moore earning the starting G2 spot. Sean Brock (#7) needs work, but when you throw in other guys like Davidson, Haselrig and Blood, there is a potential to build a solid line for 15 seasons.

K/P: They have feet, so they have jobs. With their endurance ratings, both these guys hitch rides on the back of an OL in order to not tire out going in and out of the game.

DL: The first bonafide superstar on the team, DE Quinn Camacho has been a beast in camp. The first pick in the 4th round of the 2085 draft, he has played himself into a large payday next season. The rest of the guys have yet to step up, and management is quietly hoping that this year has studs in the draft.

LB: A draft day deal that is still being talked about in these parts is the deal that brought Doug Dosland to the team. Houston was able to trade out of the top spot, where New York took bipolar Evan Green, then traded down from the new spot where KC took another HB in Ken Massey in a deal that got QB stud Steve Milstead at 10 and Double D at 14. What makes this deal so sweet is that KC and NYC got their running backs, and Houston was still able to grab Langfield in the 3rd round and groom him into a future star himself.

DB: Top Pick Benny Friar has proven he is the real deal. After that, there is a bunch of Fast and Quick hard hitters. Endurance is not an issue with this crew, and with work on their agility, they could become the most dominant unit in the league.
