Panthers franchise Jones

Move to keep young QB a Panther surprised no one
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2098 (Charlotte) - In a move that surprised absolutely no one, the Carolina Panthers franchised QB Kevin Jones, guaranteeing him $8 million the rest of his career.

'It's been no secret that this guy is our franchise QB,' Carolina GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said at the press conference announcing the long term deal. 'So I wasted no time showing our faith in him and our fans that we are determined to keep our prime time players.'

With two franchise players, LB Brent Altenhoff and G Finn Arntz retiring, there was ample salary cap room to take care of the young signal caller. Rumor has it that the Panthers' GM may be looking to lock up another young player to a long term deal this offseason.

'I'm glad the team has that kind of faith in me,' the quiet leader now known as 'the franchise' said. 'I look forward to being here in Carolina the rest of my career.'
