Riccio Brothers Taken Back-to-back in Round 1

Twin Brothers Share Confusing Moment of Joy
By "Crenshaw Withycombe"

Off-Season 2101 (Devil's Half Acre, PA) - There was a confusing moment in the Riccio household on Monday night. Philadelphia Eagles GM Andrew Lewis called and asked to speak with a young Mr. Earl Riccio. Although he asked for Earl, Mrs. Riccio put Lester Riccio on the phone. Afterall, everyone just assumed it was Lester Riccio who would drafted by the Eagles at pick 16.

Lester Riccio, graduating from Penn State with a degree in Business Administration, played college ball in Lewis' backyard. His twin brother Earl, on the other hand, decided to go across the country to play for the University of Southern California Trojans. Even though Earl has been the more accomplished athlete, having been a three-time All-American, Mrs. Riccio thought for sure that it was Lester who would be drafted by the Eagles.

In fact, Mrs. Riccio was not the only one who was fooled. Chicago Bears GM Z-Bo Zabroski said he 'did a triple-take' when he heard 'Riccio' was drafted. Z-Bo Zabroski had the card ready to draft Lester, and when he heard 'Riccio' was drafted by the Eagles, he was faintly reaching for the white-out. Then he realized EARL Riccio's name was called.

However, the confusion was not over. Andrew Lewis was still talking to Lester Riccio, and no one in the Riccio household was paying attention to the television. The Riccios did not realize Lewis wanted to talk to Earl, but was talking to Lester! This type of problem rarely happens in the USAFL, and when it does, it is usually at the tail-end of the draft, when everyone is getting ready to focus on free agency. However, it is not often that twin brothers go in the first round, either.

Ultimately, everyone was made aware of the mixup when the Bears GM called Earl and Lester's agent, who clarified the situation. Lester took the agent's phone, and Earl began talking to Andrew, and the whole household shared a joyous moment.
