(Philadelphia) - Green Bay Packers General Manager Todd Ricotta will be meeting in person with USA Football League Founder/Commissioner Andrew Lewis before the month is out, in what has been vaguely called an 'informal query into the Packers aggressive cap spending during this most recent off-season'.
League officials were unavailable for comment regarding this unprecedented meeting, but prevailing wisdom is that Ricotta is being called onto the carpet for placing his franchise in a position that nearly destroyed the team's bottom line.
Lewis reportedly scheduled the meeting for 7:15am Eastern Time, knowing full well that Ricotta, whose off-season residence is in Scottsdale, Arizona, will be crossing several time zones to appear in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
'Lewis is notorious for holding meetings at the crack of dawn,' said a mid-western USAFL GM who asked to remain anonymous. 'I was barely awake before I realized the meeting was over and I was on my way back home.'
