Panthers franchise Goeas

The next big thing at LB locked up for years
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2104 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers announced today they have locked up young promising LB Ron Goeas for years by offering him a franchise player contract that will pay him $8 million the rest of his career.

'Ron and Mike Moffitt give us a dynamic duo at linebacker that will terrorize offenses in this league for years to come,' Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley commented, referring to their newest franchise player and his running mate at outside linebacker, also a franchise player.

'I like it here in Charlotte and am glad I never have to leave,' Goeas commented at the news conference announcing his signing. 'I am glad we worked it out. Now I can go buy that Hummer for my mom she has always wanted.'

In other news, the Panthers announced they have matched the 10.5 million free agent offer to CB Howie Christie made by the Oakland Raiders, making him one of the highest paid corners in the league.

'It's a big investment but we think Howie is a special player,' Remley said when questioned about the move. 'You don't see too many come along like him, so we decided we wanted to keep him around.'

So it looks like the Panthers are going to make the most out of their cap number for at least one more season. With many veterans on the roster, it looks like the window is closing on this team finally getting places, but team insiders seem confident this team may be up to the task. At least confident enough that they are making an investment in this team to keep them intact for one more year.
