Bears Franchise Alex Price

Former Second Round Pick Cashs In
By "Otis Tackleberry"

Off-Season 2104 (Chicago, IL.) - Z-Bo Zabroski held a press conference today to announce the life-time contract given to Alex Price. Alex Price was a second round pick from Notre Dame in 2101. He becomes the second member of the 2101 draft class to receive a life-time contract. Earlier in the week, Carolina tagged linebacker Ron Goeas with the franchise player label.

Zabroski gushed about Price during the press conference, calling him 'the best player I've ever drafted.' While many fans acknowledge Price's upside, he is still unproven. Often times, Price does not fire out of his stance, lacking the explosion that is typical of a guard rewarded with the franchise player tag.

GM Zabroski assured fans that Price would develop into one of greatest offensive linemen in Bears history. The Bears franchise has a legacy of great offensive linemen. In the '90s, Isaac Williams and Ron Thompson formed a solid wall on the left side, with regular selections to the All-Pro team. Some GMs consider Ron Thompson to be one of the greatest guards to ever play the game. The '90s ended with the Bears trading away superstar Kenn Kowalkowski, arguably the best offensive lineman in the league at the time, for two first round picks and two second round picks to the Cincinnati Bengals. Incidentally, one of those second round picks turned out to be Alex Price.

During the press conference, Zabroski mentioned Alex Price was selected with Cincinnati's second round pick in 2101, after falling to the back of the second round due to a variety of reasons: abysmal combine performance, fading in the fourth quarter of road games, and so on. Zabroski is confident that Price has matured and put those problems behind him: 'He's going to be big time.'
