Page One on Panthers Bulletin Board again

Carolina players tire of being overlooked when they do well
By "Bucky Katz"

Regular Season 2105 (Charlotte) - The Carolina Panthers refused to talk about their 5-0 start today. What they were talking about was the USAFL's Page One highlighting the Giants fast start.

'Who are the bloody Giants?' wide receiver Jeff Payne asked the league media when they finally dared to enter the Panthers' lair. 'Where were they last year? We were one step away from winning it all. Their GM was out looking for a defensive line and hoping to be .500, which they weren't by the way, that's where they were.'

This issue actually began last season when after a fast start that went unacknowledged by the league's powers that be, the Panthers finally made headlines when QB Steve Jones fumbled in an overtime loss to Green Bay.

'We don't get no respect,' defensive tackle Osgood Morrison echoed. 'Those league honchos sit up in their ivory tower, drinking their cocktails and thinking they know football. They don't know Jack. Look at the stats...we DOMINATE on defense.'

GM 'Trader' Lee Remley had nothing to say on the subject except one thing.

'If that's what motivates the boys, so be it,' he related, walking out to the practice field with a smile.
