Jones Couldn't Have It Finer in Carolina

Panthers QB likes new offensive lineman
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2106 (Charlotte) - The happiest player in the Carolina Panthers training camp these days is QB Kevin Jones. Rumors had it he jumped up and down like the legendary actor Tom Cruise did on St. Oprah's couch in the old days when he heard about his team's free agent signing.

Enter one Broderick Walker. A 6-1, 307 pound mountain of a man the Panthers gave a five year, $17.5 million per year contract to join their offensive line. Put him at one tackle. With holdover North Duncan, 6-1 and weighing in 309 at left tackle, that gives the Panthers a couple of great bookends to protect Jones from the league's hungry and talented defensive linemen.

'I can't tell you how giddy I am,' a smiling Jones said when asked about the Panthers newest addition. 'I'll give our GM some credit, when they said our window of opportunity was closed, he found a way to open that sucker up some more.'

Jones isn't the only one happy about the acquisition. HB Leonard Castillo is making some bold predictions as a result.

'With that kind of beef in front of me, I might get 2,000 yards this year!' a beaming Castillo, who gained 1,450 yards last season, shouted at practice this week.

Will this addition be enough to get the Panthers past the resurging Giants and back to the Sundby Cup? And if so, can they ever hope to topple the dynasty in Buffalo? The 2106 season proves to be exciting as they pursue the answer to these and other questions.
