Chicago Franchises Rogers, Inks Otto, & Trudeau Long Term

High Octane Offense Re-Loaded
By "Otis Tackleberry"

Off-Season 2109 (Chicago, IL.) - In a Wednesday morning press conference, GM Z-Bo Zabroski made several blockbuster announcements. The press conference was originally planned to announce Edward Rogers has signed a lifetime contract with the Chicago Bears, and to introduce newly acquired linebacker Kyle Jones to the Chicago media. Plans changed when Chicago instantaneously matched offer sheets for Mark Otto and Billy Trudeau. The Bears' GM said he matched as soon as he got the contracts faxed from league offices, roughly 20 minutes past midnight east coast time.

Mark Otto went from a nobody to a superstar in just one season. The former undrafted free agent was rewarded with a substantial pay increase. Last year, he had 77 catches for 1,124 yards, averaging 14.6 yards per catch and totaling 11 touchdowns. Otto more than doubled his career totals coming into the season, something that has been a common occurrence for Bears offensive players since the team switched to the No Tight End K-Gun. Roger Koffard and Billy Trudeau have had similar expanded roles in the Bears' air-it-out offense.

Trudeau is looking forward to continuing his success as the Bears' primary wide receiver and excited about his contract, although he did not receive the $50 million dollar contract his agent promised.

Edward Rogers has been a dominant player for the Bears since being drafted 1st overall five years ago. There was tremendous pressure on the Bears to trade the pick, with several teams offering large packages to acquire the pick. Although the Bears' front office never stated what the big offers were, many believe they were the largest offers team's have ever made for a first round pick. Coming out of college, Edward Rogers was compared to legendary sack king, and former New York Giant, Tim Reeser.

Rogers has fallen short of living up to the comparisons to the greatest defensive lineman ever to play the game. However, he has won one more Sundby Cup than the legend and has played exceedingly well in big games, leading many USAFL analysts to feel he is going to have a bigger legacy than Tim Reeser when all is said and done. Rogers has 176 tackles and 47 regular season sacks in 4 seasons. In 2106, Rogers had 7 tackles and 1 sack in a first round loss to the Eagles. In 2107, when the Bears won the Sundby Cup, Rogers had 14 tackles and 9 sacks and a fumble recovery in three games. In 2108, Rogers was limited to 5 tackles and 1 sack, but had attracted double and triple teams throughout the playoffs due to his reputation for stepping up in big games.
