Trader Lee is back

Panthers get back into trade market
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2109 (Charlotte) - After the past couple of seasons, Panthers GM 'Trader' Lee Remley has been called 'Stand Pat' by the fans due to the curious lack of offseason moves from this franchise, which is usually active in the offseason, hence the GM's nickname.

Maybe it was the afterglow of their first Sundby Cup. Maybe it was satifaction on how the team was constructed. Maybe it was the salary cap. But for whatever reason, the Panthers front office had been quiet recently.

Things changed before the draft, when the Panthers put some veterans out there on the block for extra picks, to no success. Carolina finally picked up the Dolphins first round pick, which they used to draft HB Martin McJulien from Auburn.

Then there was free agency, when the team unsuccessfully went after Miami G Oliver Johnson and DT Lomas Turnbull, who both decided to remain with the up and coming Dolphins.

So the GM picked up the phone and to paraphrase a Midwest car dealer, told his fellow GMs 'We're tradin'.' A Pat finally answered the call, as Houston GM Sicher agreed to deal C George Saaverda and DE Kenyon Blundin to the Panthers. Rumor has it another deal for a DL is in the works as well.

Will the Panthers be able to stay in contention after these moves? Will Chicago stay on top? Will the youngsters in Minnesota and Green Bay finally prevail? The 2109 season proves to the interesting in the tough NFC West once more.
