Cobb Set to Break Rushing Record

Despite Unsettling Loss, Patriots Looking Ahead
By "Mike Reiss"

Regular Season 2109 (Foxboro, MA) - 'I was hoping that I'd get to set the career rushing record in front of the home folks,' stated Dan Cobb, the veteran running back. 'It looks like I have my chance.'

Just twelve yards shy of the mark, Cobb should set the record in the Patriots home game against the Baltimore Ravens. At some point during the upcoming four game homestand, Cobb will pass the 21,000 yard rushing mark.

'I think I'll do it against Baltimore, too,' said Cobb. 'After the chewing out (agm) Thul gave us after the Minnesota loss, I think we'll come out very focused.'

Asked about the overtime loss to the Vikings, Thul responded, 'That hurt. We had that game, and it was feeling so good, but it slipped away like a bar of soap.'

GM Jean Lefebvre was a little more diplomatic. 'Those things happen in a season. I know Mark (Thul) really wanted that win, but it counts the same as every other game. We have quite a few tough games left on the schedule, and we can't lose focus on what's immediately in front of us, or we'll be out of the playoff race.'

Thul ended the press conference by adding, 'It'll be great to celebrate Cobb's indiviudal achievement, but we have our work cut out for us. Our fate is in our own hands.'
