Playoffs 2110 (Tempe, AZ) - The SportsWriters Association announced their 2110 Regular Season Awards this evening and there were no surprises.

With one of the most dominant rookie years on record, Baltimore CB Mark Moxley was the unanimous winner of Rookie of the Year. His 94 tackles, 2 INT, 1 Sack and 1 TD secured the first unanimous ROY decision since 2101 (QB Morgan Capper, BUF) and first unanimous defensive selection since 2090 (LB Jay Dexter, CIN). In fact, Moxley is only the second defensive player to win the award since Dexter, with DL Toby Vanderbeek, NYG winning by virtue of a tie break in 2102. With Moxley anchoring the defensive backfield, Baltimore ranked #8 in total defense this season.

In leading his team to its first undefeated regular season in franchise history, KC’s QB Greg Toliver was also a unanimous winner of the Most Valuable Player award. Passing for 3,679 yds, 30 TD’s and only 6 INT’s gave Toliver a 98.7 QB rating and made him the first unanimous winner since 2101 (RB Jim Kowalewski, MIN). Toliver sits just shy of 50,000 career passing yards (with 328 TD’s to boot) and will try to lead Kansas City to their 6th Sundby Cup.

Strengthened by his team’s undefeated regular season, KC GM Steve Harrison was a near unanimous selection for GM of the Year. Harrison has built a very strong team and has put them in position to remain that way for years to come. To further validate his selection, Harrison’s 1st and 2nd round draft picks, WR Jacob Simpkins and TE Cedric Walker, have made an immediate impact on this high powered offense. Both players ended up on the final list of ROY candidates, finishing 2nd and 4th, respectively.

Congratulations to all of the winners.
