Playoffs 2113 (Tempe, AZ) - The SportsWriters Association announced their 2113 Regular Season Awards this evening and the suspense was electrifying.

Baltimore’s Mark Thul was awarded the Jim Maurer GM of the Year award at last night’s gala event, wrapping up one the team’s most successful seasons in over a decade. In just his second season leading the front office, Thul guided his team to their first AFC East title since 2102 (which included a 12-2 record and a Sundby Cup victory), and first playoff appearance since 2106. Thul showed immediate promise in his rookie campaign by rebuilding a 4-10 team with blue collar talent. While a single game improvement in the win column didn’t turn many heads, his offseason moves that followed sure did. Trade acquisitions of DL Lester Riccio, T Jim Vanhorse and LB Anthony Hyche paid immediate dividends on both sides of the ball as the team finished with a 9-5 record. And signing free agent DL Quinn Perry to a long term deal helped bolster the defense for years to come. Thul was deeply honored by the award, claiming he can now officially throw out his toilet bowl cleaner.

Pittsburgh WR Leopold Greene had a trying offseason. As an 8yr veteran, he was informed that since his skills were diminishing, he would have to take on a lesser role in the offense, filling in as a WR3. Don’t tell Leopold Greene his skills are diminishing. By catching this season’s Bing Bennett Most Valuable Player Award, Greene became the first receiver to win the award since Baltimore’s Johnny Baldinger in 2032, and he did it in spectacular fashion. Finishing the season with 110 receptions for 2,053 yards and 12 TD’s, Greene led his team to their first AFC West title since 2103. Greene’s sure hands and undying work ethic have made him a star in Pittsburgh and a role model in the USAFL.

Houston rookie TE Edward Brown took home the Tim Arkwright Rookie of the Year Award after hauling in 20 receptions for 101 yards in Houston’s West Coast Offense. Brown received 5 of 7 1st Place votes and won by a narrow margin over Philadelphia WR Kile Johnson. Brown will likely push for more playing time next season behind incumbent TE Webb Thomas.

Congratulations to all of the winners.
