Redskins OL Gets Paid; Elliot Franchised

Two Free Agents and a FP3 in Just Two Days

Pre-Season 2125 (Washington, DC) - Whenever the Washington Redskins team goes out for dinner, the offensive line will be picking up the tab. Last year's number one addition to the team, Stefan Kennedy, signed a massive contract after being offered $17.5 million per year by the Chicago Bears. Also gunning for Kennedy were the Green Bay Packers -- an organization keen for salary cap revenge after the 'Skins stole and dumped their best HB and DB a couple seasons ago. The Bears also offered Alex Sullivan a $6 mil / year deal, which was matched by the 'Skins.

In more surprising news, owners in Washington have announced that they will sign OL Grant Elliot to a Franchise Player contract weeks before the deadline for such a move. AGM Ben Breeden made the announcement with high praise for the young lineman, 'When Flip Sides didn't show up to the draft and Elliot fell to us at the number 2 slot, I wanted to give him the FP tag right then and there. He's going to be the anchor. With our offensive line - Elliot, Kennedy, Sullivan, Waldrop, and Randolph ... not to mention our younger guys - I'm thinking about becoming the HB for this team. Even I could run behind those guys for 1500 yards.'

Speculation was rampant in Washington that top-flight defensive back Anthony Tate might receive the FP tag along with Elliot, but Breeden addressed those rumors at the press conference. 'We talked with Anthony. He knows where he stands on this team. He's a lifelong Redskin if there's ever been one. But the fact is, linemen get paid in this league, and we have a very talented core up front that we will keep together using the FP tags. Next year, all our FP tags will be taken. I think it's rather obvious who those guys will be - Adam Waldrop and Alan Kincannon. And we'll be focusing on arranging our cap to hold on to key skill guys like Tate. I'm not afraid to predict that in just a couple years, Anthony Tate will be the best defensive back in the league, bar none. We're aware that GM's will be bidding high in free agency, and we're happy that Tate's going to be paid what he's worth - but he'll be paid that salary by the Washington Redskins.'

With all the talent and high draft picks on the roster, GM Dan Weimann and AGM Ben Breeden have their hands full trying to stay under the cap in the next few years. Many organizations in the league have noticed the core that the team has built, and Redskins management feels that a bullseye is now on the team. Expectations are building in Washington DC. Fans are eager to see the team break the .500 mark, and soon after that milestone is passed, the goals only get bigger. This season's money has been well-spent on gluing together the offensive line - the Hogs are ready.
