They Call Him The Saint

Vincent Is About to Break Bad on the League
By "Gary Gray"

Pre-Season 2142 (Washington, Dc) - If you thought that Keith Hathawy's record smashing season in 2141 was impressive, just wait until you see what Vince St. John has in store. Just ask Keith - 'Man, I'm happy to be fullback with that guy around. I wondered why he didn't start last year. The Saint just explodes out of the backfield. I've never seen anything like it. Not with Casey [Hollis]. Not with anyone. He's untouchable in the open field. I saw him embarrass Bernie Reynolds so bad yesterday in practice. Bernie had to put a towel over his head to hide the shame after he got to the sideline. Vince is ridiculous.' Hathawy relinquished his starting HB1 position this season to make room for the rising star. St John will be eligible for free agent bids next year and is expected to be a prime target. Sources say that the Washington Redskins might not match substantial bids on the running back, since they are so cap-strapped. Only time will tell the future of The Saint, but one thing is for sure... he's going to put up some astounding numbers in 2142. Vince is ranked as the #1 HB in the league despite never starting a single game.

Head Coach Tommy Sheppard lavished the praise on Vincent, as well. 'It's a dream, having a guy like that. He's once in a lifetime. OK, maybe twice... since Pete Odom over in Michigan is beasting in pre-season.' But Odom doesn't quite have the offensive line luxury that The Saint boasts. All five of the Redskins' offensive linemen are considered top 20 league-wide. And that's a good thing - since they are among the highest paid players in the league. Two of them are signed to extravagant free agent contracts, one is a Franchise Player, and the other is a former first round pick. Only aging veteran Rich Webster makes less than $4m. Combined, they rake in $37.5m annually. The offensive front line is expected to carry the load while the Redskins pursue their third straight Sundby Cup, fourth in five years. And The Saint will reap all the glory. Expect Vince St. John to be the MVP for 2142; you heard it here first.
