Fans, Protestors gather to see Panthers off to Cincinnati
By "Bucky Katz"

Off-Season 2159 (Charlotte) - Fans of the Carolina Panthers held a candlelight vigil as they watched the moving vans leaving the Panthers team headquarters, headed to their new home in Cincinnati.

Most fans were appreciative of the fact that management spent some free agent dollars and pulled off a trade to try to give them one last decent season, improving from 1-13 to 6-8.

Others, however, still protested the move outside the nearly abandoned Panthers corporate offices, carrying signs like 'Traitor Lee', 'This is our team' and 'Greedy *censored by USAFL COE*', among other distasteful signs.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Mayor E.F. 'Bubba' Crankston III is doing his best to spin the loss of the Panthers in a positive direction as he faces re-election this fall. Many pundits already call for him to lose by a landslide because of his role in losing their football team here. Sources say he even held a seance to get advice from the spirit of Karl Rove in an effort to keep his job.

So the chapter of the Carolina Panthers existence is about closed as the team moves up north to a new beginning in Cincinnati.

It has been this reporter's pleasure to cover such a colorful and newsworthy team all these years. I am looking forward to my new assignment covering the city's bassetball team. I hear those hounds can really jump!
