Despite Giants quickly moving on Albert Reeder, 9 players and West Coast guru announce their retirement.

Off-Season 2164 (Albany,NY) - Albert Reeder is taking his talents to South Beach, and it doesn't matter to nine Giants players and offensive coordinator Walter Burns.

Shortly after the season came to an end, the Giants traded their troubled quarterback to the Miami Dolphins for a fourth round draft pick. Despite being surrounded with talent, Reeder was his own worst enemy, and this move needed to be done.

Still, even with the move, the players and Burns filed retirement paperwork, leaving the Giants looking to fill their roster with replacements.

'The atmosphere was poisonous.' former Giants player Les Garrett said. 'None of us could stand to be around Reeder, and he pretty much cost us a playoff berth. Some of us got so angry that no matter what ownership could have done, we were done with the game. How bad is this guy that he ripped the passion we had for this game out of our hearts?'

Another Giants player who retired, cornerback Kevin Williams, expressed concern about the trade. 'Dude was all about drinking, living the high life, and gettin' arrested. It even cost him his wife and custody of his kids. Now he's going to Miami, where Club Lebron is, the biggest nightclub in the entire world? Dude ain't gonna go clean down there. That place is so huge it has it's own zip code. Really, look it up. The booze flows like a freakin' river, literally. It's like somebody's playin' a prank on the guy so he can never go clean. Not my problem. I'm outta here.'

The Giants, scrambling to replace Burns, hired former Texas Tech head coach James Canyon to be the new offensive coordinator. Canyon rediscovered the Spread offense, and claims the playbook he used was locked away for decades, deep in the catacombs underneath Texas Tech, written by a legend by the name of Mike Leach. Will this brand of offense work in the USAFL? If so, the Giants will have to bring in someone experienced to work under center. Quarterback Ken Gary might be having to start, and this is not a type of offense an inexperienced quarterback would be able to succeed with, even if the wide receivers on the roster are as talented as the Giants current receivers. GM Joe Malloy hopes to address this in the weeks leading up to the draft.
