Off-Season 2168 (Cincinnati) - The Cincinnati Bengals today offered guard Steve Cavanaugh a $12 million per year lfietime contract, which he happily accepted, assuring that he will remain a Bengals the rest of his career.

'It's not often we find a good offsenive lineman with such promise with the lousy offensive lineman drafts the past few years,' Bengals GM 'Trader' Lee Remley said in a statement announcing the signing. 'So there was no way we were letting a guy like Steve get away.'

Cavanaugh was thrilled with the signing also.

'I had no clue this was coming,' the five year vet said after getting a big raise from his $3 million a year rookie contract. 'I am glad the team is showing that kind of confidence in me going forward. I'll do my best to prove myself worthy of that trust.'

Bengals fans look forward to seeing their new franchise player on the field in the opener tonight.
