No End in Sight

Player strike continues and outlook is bleak for a quick resolution

Pre-Season 2187 (Philadelphia, PA) - In what has become a familiar scene around the league, practice fields that are usually buzzing this time of year sit idle. Instead of celebrating touchdowns and sacks, the USAFL is currently mired in heresay and innuendo.

A league source said today that the USAFL Players Union rejected the latest offer from the League Office and walked away from any further discussion at this point. USAFLPU Player Rep--Buffalo's Drew Miller-- went on the offensive after the union's negotiating team walked out of the talks. 'They want to take us back to the poor house,' stated Miller. 'The offer was a slap in the face to all of us who put our bodies at risk everyday for the entertainment of these guys (owners).'

Where do we go from here? It's anyone's guess. But for now those practice fields will be waiting for the day when the parties can find some common ground.
