(New Orleans) - The Saints were quick to pull the trigger on the worst-kept secret negotiations with a New Orleans player in the last decade, signing talented defensive anchor Brad Hagen to an 11-year deal guaranteeing $88 million.
Meanwhile, teammate and fellow lineman James Ellerson has announced an agreement in principle with the Minnesota Vikings.
'James has been unhappy with his contract and his place in the locker room for the past couple of seasons,' commented sources close to the Saints' front office. 'The team has been supportive of his decision to explore free agency, and James is headed into a situation where he'll get the contract he feels he deserves and a leadership role on a young line in Minnesota. New Orleans wishes him all the best- 12 games a year.'
