Cinderella Season Comes to Close...but Who's Slipper is It?

By "Hardy Young"

Off-Season 2195 (Tampa Bay, FL) - Wow! What a season! What story makes the headlines more? Erik Kline, ready to retire, going for one more ring? Jeff Edwards, coming back to the team that drafted him for a last chance at the title? Gene Thomas, who was promised Sundby Cup potential when he was traded to the Bay, ready to retire as well?

As a matter of fact, just go down the list of guys that this was their last chance: Kline, Thomas, Edwards, Price, Bigby, Teague...the list goes on. A clearer statement couldn't have been made than when Kline refused to hold the cup up himself. 'It was a team effort with every step we took! I can't take credit for this game or what happened this season. We did it as a team and we'll celebrate as one, too!' That was Kline on the podium when prompted to take center stage. This was a fitting end to a season that comes along once in a lifetime. The only question now is, What's Next?

'What's next?!? You see a team that can keep winning!' said Kline when asked about all the veteran talent leaving. 'These guys still have a lot of talent. Martin is still the general. With Robinson and the tools at his disposal I see them still putting up the points. They also have talent on the defensive side...I don't think they'll skip a beat, I really don't.' Some of the pundits are skeptical but the off-season moves and Head Office decisions will let us know sooner, rather than later, if they can make one more run. And soon!
