Off-Season 2198 (Cincinnati) - 'The curse of Mike Brown' no longer haunts the Cincinnati Bengals.

Named after the controversial owner of the Bengals in the 21st century whose inept running of the franchise led to terrible results for the team for many years, the curse referred to the fact that Cincinnati reached the Sundby Cup four times and lost each time.

Even GM 'Trader' Lee Remley, who won two Sundbys in Carolina when the franchise was called the Panthers, was beginning to doubt his team would ever get out from under the dreaded curse.

Even the famous voodoo princess Miss Theo was unable to lift the curse, it was said.

Then 2197 happened.

The Cincinnati Bengals beat the NFC Minnesota Vikings, who have more Sundby Cups than a Roman household could possibly use at a dinner party, from come from behind fashion 22-17 to win their first Sundby Cup after relocating to Cincinnati.

Veteran QB Steve Callahan thought he would never see the day before he retired.

'No one gave us a chance,' Callahan said between being drenched by his teammates. 'They all quoted the daggone curse. Well, we showed them.'

'We got no respect from the SWA,' HB Bradley Robinson added. 'The boss, me, Stevie, none of us won anything. Well, we're the ones standing here with the Cup.'

GM 'Trader' Lee Remley was particularly satisified with this season's outcome.

'We went all out to finally win one,' Remley said. 'It's nice to see after all these attempts to do that, one finally came through.'

Cincinnati had eight players retire aftet the victory, choosing to go out on top. But the team's boss isn't worried.

'We have a good team with good depth,' Remley said. 'We'll be all right next year, and hopefully we'll be right back here again.'

One change, however, was the hiring of Dan Kimball as assistant general manager. One might recall Lee Patterson once had a similar role before going on to become the Eagles GM.

When asked about the hiring of an assistant GM, the Bengals GM gave an unexpected answer.

'Now that I hired an assistant, I can go on vacation to the Disney Planet!'
