Changes for the 2200 Season

League President makes some exciting announcements
By "Jermichael Vincent Schaap III"

Off-Season 2199 (Philadelphia, PA) - As the USAFL continues to battle the Y22K computer bug and whilst we venture into a 23rd century football experience...it is only appropriate that some of the biggest stories going into this offseason dig about as deep as our history can take us.

First, we are welcoming back our Founder and long time League Commissioner Andrew Lewis back into a full time GM position this offseason. Ulrich Rettig has stepped down from his GM position with NYG and Andrew will be stepping in immediately. This is something that Ulrich has discussed with us for quite some time. He was a great fried to the league as he stayed on to run the NYG franchise even though he wanted to drop from the league. He did this because we did not have anyone to take the team over and he felt it wouldn't be fair to all of the other GMs. Think about that...he stayed in a league he wasn't getting a whole lot of enjoyment from out of respect to all of you and how we run this league. I think this says a lot about his character and a lot about the USAFL as a whole! Thanks to Ulrich for all the time he put in for us over the years while he was involved. Andrew will be putting a down payment on that sky condo (think The Jetsons) he was renting on the Upper East Side after making the trek up the Jersey Cloudpike to work for a team that was his rival all his life. Will he keep the team in New York? Only time will tell... Welcome back, Andrew!

If that wasn't enough, we are welcoming back another name from the USAFL archives this offseason. After taking a long time away from our world of make-believe to do some pretty important real world things, we are happy to have Flip Sides back with us. Flip will now be the AGM in HOU working with Patrick Sicher to bring the Texans success once again. Welcome back, Flip!

Finally, the last announcement is more of a re-assignment/promotion for CIN AGM Dan Kimball. After working with Lee Remley for a couple of seasons learning the USAFL ropes, Dan is ready to tackle a new challenge this offseason. He will be taking over the AGM position in BAL effective immediately. In this role, Dan will be working directly with BAL GM Mark Thul to assist in the day to day running of the team while getting some more strategy seasoning from one of our most successful GMs.

Things are looking bright for the USAFL these days! We are entering a new millennium of exciting football action this season. The league website will be getting some server upgrades in the near term to hopefully improve the PageOne experience. (...more on that to come) And we have two active AGMs in the fold for the first time in years! We should all be proud that this league continues to be as strong as it has ever been. The future is bright, my friends...even into the 23rd century.
