Pre-Season 2083 (Dallas) - Commissioner Andrew Lewis announced that the Dallas Cowboys were guilty of a roster infraction by not waiving two players by the Friday evening deadline.

Cowboys' GM Flip Sides could not be reached for comment. League officials promptly waived DL Mike Barrett (2083 2nd rd) and DL Casey Rapid (2083 3rd rd) in order to get the Cowboys to the required 53 man roster limit. The Cowboys will also be penalized a future second round selection for the infraction (2084 DAL 2nd).

League rules state that Commissioner Lewis can waive players at his own discretion to resolve the infraction (http://usafl.net/home/FAQ/faq-new_penalties.htm). Lewis has always waived players based on the reverse order they were acquired by the team, via free agency first, then the draft.

The Cowboys traded away the last four players they drafted earlier this week, thus they were forced to waive the next available players, DLs Barrett and Rapid. The Cowboys did not sign any free agents.

The league will process the penalty as soon as possible so that the General Managers around the league can resume their progress on dealing with their Waiver Wire Claims.
