Pre-Season 2244 (Green Bay, Wisconsin) - After losing OL Mark Mackey to the Oakland Raiders last season (with a record $50 million dollar per season deal), the Green Bay Packers succumbed to fan pressure this off-season by opening up their checking account and signing Atlanta Falcons super-stud LB John Smith to a $30 million dollar per season deal, making him the highest paid LB in the USAFL.

Smith demanded a big contract that equal to his level of play in the league. He also demanded an extra 10 thousand per season that will be directly donated to his foundation for inner-city at-risk youths.

The Packers also landed two starting DBs, one each from the Oakland Raiders and the Minnesota Vikings. Frankie Prior and Orlando Hood each signed their contracts late last evening shortly before the deadline.

'We are eager to get the Packers back into the playoffs,' said Prior.
