Draft Scandal!

Packer GM Angers Green Bay Fans Yet Again
By "Tys Thatbind"

Off-Season 2258 (Philadelphia, PA) - 'What a moron!' lamented Carl Gerbschmidt. 'I drove 17 hours to attend the draft, to support the greatest franchise ever in existence, and this bozo GM immediately disrespects the fans. Who does he think he is?'

That was the immediate reaction of a loyal Packer fan after General Manager Mark Thul turned in the draft card for the second overall pick; however, rather than identifying his team as 'Green Bay,' he inadvertently wrote down 'Baltimore.' The card was actually announced along with the error before any corrections could be made. League officials chuckled and then allowed the Packers to amend the card.

'What can I say?' shrugged Thul. 'I was picturing how great Harvey May would look in purple and black. You know, the striking colors of a powerful team. Very much unlike the green and gold, which is a pretty awful combination, if you ask me. Anyway, I lost myself in that image and wrote down Baltimore. No big deal! We still got a heck of a player.'

This explanation did not sit well with the fans. 'This is not funny! How dare he disrespect our colors?' screamed Gerbschmidt, while balancing a plate of homemade cheese-curds on his belly. 'It has been scientifically proven that gold and green are the most beautifully complimentary colors there are. They are powerful and strike fear into all opponents. Only a senseless idiot doesn't know that.'

Thul has been facing increasing anger among Packer fans who have been thus far unimpressed with his performance, with some 'owners' even calling for his removal; however, the Packers gave the GM total control with a lifetime contract, so this situation isn't likely to resolve soon.
