Pre-Season 2260 (Green Bay, WI) - As training camp concluded for the 2060 Packers, QB Todd Manning emerged from the practice facility with a huge smile.

'I'm pleased to say I've signed a Franchise Player deal with Green Bay,' stated Manning. 'I'd like to thank the fans and the Packer organization for putting their faith in me. I won't let them down!'

Manning was the second player drafted in the second round (#20 overall) of the 2257 draft. He has started every game for the Packers since being selected.

At the formal press conference announcing the signing, GM Mark Thul was confident in the decision. 'Quarterback is the single most important position in all of professional sports, and Manning has every tool to be the best. Just look at his pedigree. Mannings have been professional quarterbacks since before the turn of the millennium. That position is set for over a decade.'

As recently as two years ago, many in the Packer fan base were calling for his removal after Manning had a 4 TD, 17 INT campaign. One particularly zealous Packer fan even froze a life-sized dummy, fully adorned in a Manning uniform, in a block of ice and sent him adrift in Lake Michigan. But Thul stuck with him, and was rewarded with a bounce-back campaign that flipped those numbers in right direction to 17 TD and 4 INT.

'This is the leader of our team,' said Thul, 'and the future looks bright!'
